Summer Sisterhood
Community Retreat

dig your hands in as we
unplug, reconnect, and rewild
August 2025
Kalōpā Native Forest State Park
Join us for a weekend of sisterhood sharing and fun in the forest. Disconnect from the tech world and embrace the wild woman within.
"A sisterhood is a community where women uplift, empower, and support one another through life's journey, creating a bond of shared experiences and unwavering love."
'All Hands In' is our annual community retreat at Kalōpā Native Forest State Park on the Hāmākua Coast of the Big Island. We will be in the middle of the forest, in the fresh air, in the simplicity of it all, and have the spaciousness to move, explore, and be free spirits together. This isn't a pampering “self-anything” retreat, but rather it is about community and sisterhood.
The answer is in the forest. It is wild, rustic, natural, protected, and open to the community. The love for the forest is reciprocal, give and take. It is connected - a mycorrhizal network - like sisterhood.
It takes all hands to make this retreat special, affordable, and sustainable. And it takes all hands in to make this a true community retreat!
We will unplug and disconnect from the stresses of the world. WIFI is not available, or spotty at best. This allows us to hone in on ourselves and focus on our retreat in the purest sense of the word.
Sweet Cane Cafe will cater our meals. All food will be gluten-free and vegan-friendly with some vegetarian side options. Meals will be prepped, cooked, and set out by Sweet Cane. Participants will sign up for a meal shift, keep the retreat space clean, make the gathering space cozy, help with cleanup and takedown after the retreat is finished, and most importantly, lend a hand and look out for each other. This will be easy for everyone with all hands in. This gives space for the retreat to be as affordable and community-inspired as possible.
We will be outdoors during the day, and meet in our lodge space for circle sharing at night.
Fair Warning: this retreat is rustic! The basic cabins have eight bunk beds and one bathroom per eight women. There may or may not be padding (thin padding) on the plywood platform bunk bottom. You will bring your own bedding, padding, towels, camp chair, cushions, quilts, blankets, mats, etc. We also invite you to create your own little private hideaway and decorate your bunk. Examples can be found at the "Kalopa" button below or in Testimonials.

Our first Wild Women Hawai'i retreat was in Kalopa Park, and we are welcoming back the community aspect of a collective, crunchy and scrunchy sisterhood retreat. For ‘All Hands In’, our innate love of the forest was the inspiration to offer a women's space where we can disconnect from the stress of the world and reconnect with ourselves, each other, and nature. We will let go of patriarchal social chains, and play, wander, and indulge in the senses while staying true to the Wild Women Hawai’i heart message of supporting sisterhood connection, unity, wellness, and joy. This is where we are free to be ourselves!
DELICIOUS, NUTRITIOUS, FRESH, ORGANIC, LOCAL FOOD
Sweet Cane Cafe will cater all of our meals which will be gluten-free and vegan-friendly with some vegetarian options. We have loved Sweet Cane Cafe since 2011 and can attest to the yummiest, most nutritious, and most fulfilling fresh locally-grown food available!
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate individual special diets and requests beyond our offerings. Feel free to contact us for more information. We have added the menu to the itinerary if you would like to look up the ingredients ahead of time and plan accordingly.
Family-owned and operated, Sweet Cane Cafe first opened in August of 2011 to provide Hawaii Island with a casual and accessible farm-to-table experience. Items are made with as many local and organic ingredients as possible. All breads and sauces are made in-house.

Wild Women Hawai'i retreats are network-free environments.
You will have the opportunity to share what you do by contributing to a
‘sisterhood sharing bag’ that will be given to each sister at the end of the retreat to open once they are home.
