Her Blue Body
An Ocean Immersion for Women
August 9-12, 2026
Hilo, Big Island of Hawai'i

Her Blue Body is a threshold between Ocean and Woman. It only takes one toe in and we are reminded that much of our body is water, that we were once held in the waters of our mother’s womb, and that we bleed (or bled) as part of our natural cycles of life. Ocean will be our medicine, both in and out of the water, and we will listen for the wisdom that lives beneath language, within the body and the sea.

The Flow of Her Blue Body

Mornings: Guided Ocean Therapy

Afternoons: Free Being for you to decide what your body needs

Evenings: Sensory Landing and Integration Circle

Detailed Flow:

  • Dawn Presence: Calm, spacious time for individuality before breakfast: Watch the sun rise, take a dip, rise slowly. Begin your day with what feels good to you.

  • Morning Sensory Awakening: We will wake the senses at the water’s edge through slow intentional entry into the blue.

  • Mid-morning Immersion: Ocean therapy in its purest form. Using the water’s buoyancy and kinship, we'll release what we no longer need to hold.

  • Afternoon Free Being: Unstructured integration time. Let your body lead. Snorkel the reef, plunge in the cold pond, dance, make art, nap, read, or talk story on the lanai. Suncatcher gemstones and materials will be available for quiet, tactile grounding.

  • Evening Sensory Landing: After dinner, calm sensory-rich somatic grounding to tune in to the body.

  • The Shared Hearth: Gentle, unforced space to share ourselves as women, or simply sink into the quiet comfort of kinship.

  • Evening Stillness: Integrating the day’s medicine through soothing sound and guided relaxation with the lullaby of the sea.

Note on our timing: This retreat is intentionally held Sunday-Wednesday. By stepping away from the weekend crowds, we ensure a quieter, more spacious environment for our time in the water. This choice protects the focus of our sensory work and allows the ocean to remain a true sanctuary for our group.

Facilitator's Message

Michelle Ocean

Welcome. It's my belief that when women are whole and nourished, our families, our spaces, and our entire community thrives. We are all deeply connected; when the well-being of our women is restored, the collective rises.

This immersion is my heartfelt invitation for you to return to that state of nourishment. My purpose is not to show you how to move, breathe, think, or become, but to provide you with meaningful experiences and heartfelt invitations that entrust you to tune into your own unique and beautiful, waterful self.

My focus is almost always experiential, honoring the body’s wisdom over the mind’s analysis. As a lifelong dancer, I naturally communicate and attune physically over verbal inclinations.

This somatic path is deeply intertwined with the sea. Ocean has been my teacher since I was a child. She was my playmate, my playground, and my guardian. Later in life, she was my teacher. As an open-water swimmer and surfer, she taught me to respect her power and trust her capacity to teach, hold, and heal.

These waters are not just a location, they are my home. I raised my daughter in the Hilo shoreline, and for 33 years, this ocean has been a source of healing and comfort. This is an invitation into a space I hold sacred.

Heartfully,

Michelle

"Your lovely, loving, centered and wise energy, was a relief to just quiet myself and trust in your different style of leadership."

Keaukaha caresses the coastline of Hilo Bay in a beautiful mix of ocean estuary, salt water lagoons, saline cold ponds, and a sprinkling of black sand beaches. It is a rare oasis of undeveloped, living coastline that has defied time and naturally invites a sense of wild tranquility. We are within a 5-minute walk to Richardson Beach Park where a black sand beach awaits as a welcome mat into one of the most beautiful snorkeling reefs on the Big Island.

Resonance

This retreat is a circle of six to ten, ensuring every woman has space to be held.

It is for:

  • the giver

  • the holder

  • the woman in transition

  • the high-capacity professional

  • the woman simply seeking the space to be without an audience or an agenda.

  • The woman who trusts that her body’s wisdom is the primary architect of her own restoration.

  • The nature-lover who welcomes the ocean as a mirror to her own depths and a catalyst for her release.

  • The woman who values her autonomy but recognizes the medicine of being witnessed by women who are equally committed to their own depth.

The Medicine of Kinship

When women gather with openness, honesty, and empathy, the old story of competition fades. What comes forward is the even older story of connection. We remember that another woman’s light doesn’t take away from ours, and it helps us see the journey forward more clearly.
Many of us live in parallel, and very rare is the chance to cross paths while tuning into our own unique journey without the noise of life for a few graceful days of liberated, ocean immersion together.

What not to expect: workshops, manuals, trainings, long talks, or lectures. Instead, we gently tune into sensation and listen. Expect unique sensory experiences and an emphasis on trusting what feels right and natural.

What this is not: This is not a Kona resort experience. It is more raw and unrefined. We will spend much of our time in an ocean lagoon that is often calm with no waves, currents, or surges. The water can be refreshingly cool and the weather may be warm and rainy. This is ideal for ocean therapy, not only for its calming capacity to hold, but for its natural elemental healing and resonance.

Anchor to Gallery of Rooms

The sanctuary for our retreat is a spacious, three-story seaside home designed to let the outside in. From the open-concept gathering space on the top floor, we have a panoramic view of the medicine that awaits us: the rhythmic rise and fall of the tide pools, the stillness of the lagoons, and the vibrant life of the reef. Here, you can watch the variety of sea life from above before we descend to meet the water ourselves.

Our home features eight guest beds across several thoughtfully arranged spaces. To maintain the quiet intimacy of the group, bedrooms are tucked away on the second level, while we gather for shared meals and connection on the open third floor.

Sustaining the Vessel:

Ocean therapy and sensory work require deep, intentional nourishment. While this retreat is not centered around food, we recognize that what we consume sustains the vessel and supports the physical integration of this experience.

  • Our Food Ethic: Holding true to our “all things living” ethic, all meals during Her Blue Body are fully vegetarian (with high-quality dairy and egg options).

  • The Sourcing: Our menus highlight peak seasonal, home-grown, and locally-foraged ingredients sourced directly from Big Island farms.

  • Dietary Care: We specialize in curated menus that honor your body's needs. Special diets and allergies are seamlessly accommodated with advance notice during registration.

  • The Culinary Support: Meals are prepared and served by Sue Mandini of the Farm to Table Dinner Club, allowing you to rest completely without any responsibilities for cooking or cleaning.

A Glimpse of the Table

Because we follow the rhythm of the land, our exact August menu will depend on what is flourishing and harvested that week. Below is a sample dinner menu illustrating how our culinary support elevates simple, local ingredients into deeply restorative meals.
